Description: A simply stunning handmade Bay bowl. This is a delicate, refined ORNAMENTAL piece. It also demonstrates the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi precisely (see explanation in yellow below). I do not recommend this as tableware. It's an art piece.
You can gaze at this piece as a form of quiet contemplation
Design wise you see...
Sea Bay views. Mountains. Pinky purplish mists. Rising waves. Full tides.
Speckles, sea greens and dots of sea life sprinkled in the waves.
It's so full of LIFE!
The rim reflects in certain lights a ring of flecking gold.
It's a delicate bowl... may it last you a thousand years :)
That said... there is only ONE on earth.
If you like it.
Then nab it before it's gone. Who knows, one day it may end up in Christies!
Material: 100% STONEWARE clay. Biscuit fired, then glazed and into a last firing to set the glazing process.
Microwave Safe: Yes indeed.
Size: Height—6.5 cm. Width—11.9cm
Weight: 215 gm
The Japanese concept of "perfect imperfection" is deeply rooted in the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi and the art of Kintsugi, both of which celebrate imperfection, impermanence, and the beauty of flaws.
I like that!
So please note if you see something quirky, slightly off or 'less than perfect'... too big. Too small in my work.
Or with some 'flaw' in when viewed by modern sensibilities, that I don't see them that way at all.
I view them more as aspects of 'Perfect Imperfection'.
I hope you do too, though if not that's fine too... it just means that piece is not meant for you :)
(I reject a lot of pieces before I release a collection. The ones that make it are those I feel will bring beauty to the homes they go to).
COLOUR NOTES:
The colours of my ceramics change throughout the day—Sometimes appearing darker or lighter, sparkling or rich, soothing or vibrant.
This transformation depends on the weather, the season, and the quality of light surrounding them.
So matter how carefully I photograph each piece, the camera can't do justice to this dynamic quality.
All photographs are taken in natural light without extra enhancement. You may even notice colour variations within the same series of photos—This is due to changing light conditions during the photography session.
Important Display Considerations
Please be aware colours shown on your screen are only an approximation of the actual piece.
Different devices—whether mobile phones, laptops, or tablets—display colours differently due to varying screen settings. What appears blue on one device might look green or turquoise on another.
